Natasha Evans

Director of Teacher Development

What does your role entail?

As the Director of Teacher Development, I have responsibility and oversight of the NIoT Early Career Framework programme for the East, South and London Campus ensuring ECTs and Mentors receive high quality training throughout the Induction period. The programme of support develops them into outstanding practitioners and most importantly equips them with the skills to retain them in the profession. Another part of my role is designing and leading on teacher development programmes and educational conferences which respond to school needs.

What are your credentials / experiences in your current position?

I started my teaching career in 1999 as a Geography Teacher and have taught in a number of different schools across southeast London. Prior to becoming the Director of Teacher Development, I was the Director of Harris Crystal Palace Teaching School Hub. I have held a number of different leadership roles, including Assistant Principal and Vice Principal for Teaching and Learning and Professional Development. Professional development and teaching have always been at the heart of my roles and responsibilities.

What is the highlight of your role?

The highlight of my role has to be seeing ECTs graduate from their two-year Induction programmes as confident professionals with the skills to pursue a sustainable and successful career in education. I also enjoy seeing how individuals' careers develop as they progress through the golden thread of professional development!

Educational change depends on what teachers do and think
